The Bus Turnaround Coalition has identified the top ten prime streets for practical, near-term bus improvements across all five New York City boroughs. These ten bus routes suffer from the greatest disparity in travel times between peak and off-peak hours, meaning 250,000 riders traveling during prime commute times--when most riders are on the system--face unnecessarily slow, unreliable commutes to work, school, and important appointments.

The routes and corridors selected for these treatments have high ridership, roads that can support street improvements without negative impacts for single-occupancy vehicles, and, most importantly, a wide variance in travel times between peak and off-peak hours. We are calling on the NYC Department of Transportation to take the lead on making these improvements in 2017.
The Bus Turnaround Coalition is a diverse group of New Yorkers determined to turn around the poor service that plagues the city's bus system and the 2.5 million rides taken on it every weekday. We are winning increased attention from our leaders and greater resources for high quality, fast and reliable bus service for all neighborhoods in New York City.
